Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of IPTruth's website, API, and related services ("Services"). By accessing or using our Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using our API, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you are using our Services on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

2. Service Description

IPTruth provides IP intelligence services including geolocation, ASN/BGP data, security scoring, VPN/proxy detection, and IP triangulation via a REST API and web-based tools. Service availability and features may vary by subscription plan.

3. API Usage

Access to our API requires authentication via API keys. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your API keys and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must not share API keys publicly or embed them in client-side code.

4. Rate Limits

Each subscription plan includes a daily API request allowance. Requests exceeding your plan's limit will receive a 429 (Too Many Requests) response. Rate limits reset daily at midnight UTC. Sustained attempts to exceed rate limits may result in temporary or permanent account suspension.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use our Services to:

  • Violate any applicable laws or regulations
  • Stalk, harass, or track individuals without their consent
  • Attempt to circumvent rate limits or access controls
  • Redistribute raw API data as a competing service
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract our data sources
  • Send automated requests that place unreasonable load on our infrastructure
  • Use the service for any purpose that violates individual privacy rights

6. Intellectual Property

All IP intelligence data, algorithms, methodologies, and documentation are the intellectual property of IPTruth. Your subscription grants a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use API responses within your applications. You may cache API responses for up to 24 hours unless your plan specifies otherwise.

7. Data Accuracy

While we strive for maximum accuracy, IP intelligence data is inherently probabilistic. We do not guarantee 100% accuracy for geolocation, security classifications, or VPN/proxy detection. Our Services should not be used as the sole basis for decisions with significant legal or safety implications.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, IPTruth shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenue, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the Services shall not exceed the amounts paid by you in the twelve months preceding the claim.

9. Termination

Either party may terminate these Terms at any time. You may cancel your subscription through your dashboard. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms. Upon termination, your API keys will be deactivated and your access to the Services will cease.

10. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email or dashboard notification at least 30 days before taking effect. Continued use of the Services after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved in the courts of San Francisco County, California.
